Electricity:
Get The Most For Your Money
- Set
your thermostat on 78 degrees in the summer and 68-70 degrees in the winter
and leave it there.
- Keep
the filters clean on your heating and cooling system, check them every two
weeks (especially electrostatic filters) and change, or clean, as needed.
- Keep
the outdoor unit free of debris.
- Turn
the water heater off when away on the weekends or vacation.
- Close
the drapes on the sunny side of the house during the summer.
- Run
the dishwasher only when it is full.
- Wash
full loads of clothes in the coolest water possible.
- Do
not preheat the oven unless the recipe instructs you to.
- Use
ceiling fans to help your heating and cooling system, run counter-clockwise
in summer, clockwise in winter.
